The Office of General Services provides lease audit expense services to agencies that occupy OGS-negotiated leased space. The services are rendered by experienced OGS lease audit professionals, or through a professional lease auditor on state contract. Agencies typically request such audits when a landlord presents a billing that reflects an increase in costs compared to previous years. Escalation audits typically cover operating expenses or property tax increases, or can address other costs usually billed separately, such as electrical service. OGS experience has shown that lease expense audits ensure accuracy of the billing compliance with lease terms and avoid excess payments.
