Commissioner RoAnn M. DestitoIn May 2011, the New York State Senate unanimously confirmed Governor Cuomo's nomination of RoAnn M. Destito as Commissioner of the Office of General Services.

Commissioner Destito is leading transformational changes at the Office of General Services as it implements programs in support of Governor Cuomo's vision to change the way government does business and make it more effective, efficient, and responsive to the needs of citizens. Destito is intensifying OGS' focus on procuring services and commodities at best value and maximizing the use of state-owned and leased office space.

As a member of Governor Cuomo's Cabinet, Commissioner Destito has played an integral role in the administration's efforts to bolster New York's economic development initiatives and provide increased opportunities for companies, including MWBEs and preferred sources, to do business with the state.

Destito serves on the Governor's Strategic Implementation Assessment Team, which reviews progress reports and proposals submitted by New York's 10 Regional Economic Development Councils. At OGS, Destito has overseen the implementation of the NYS Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Act, the modernization of the state's procurement practices for commodities, services, and technology, and the development of contracts used to acquire the goods and services communities need when responding to emergencies.

As a longstanding public servant, Destito is committed to Governor Cuomo's call to restore public trust and create a government that New York can be proud of.

From Rome, New York, Destito was elected to represent the 116th Assembly district in 1992. During her time in the Assembly, she worked to advance and strengthen the state's procurement practices, opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses, and support for military families.

Beginning in 2001, Destito served as chairwoman of the Assembly Standing Committee on Governmental Operations, which provides legislative and budget oversight. Commissioner Destito holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Relations from LeMoyne College. Destito is the first woman to be confirmed as OGS Commissioner.
